Hixon (1940-2009), Hoit (both speech, language, and hearing sciences, U. of Arizona), and Weismer (communications sciences and disorders, U. of Wisconsin-Madison) introduce the fundamentals of speech science needed by aspiring and practicing clinicians in a textbook suitable for courses in the anatomy and physiology of speech production and swallowing, and the acoustics and perception of speech. It can be used at the graduate or undergraduate level.
