Practical handbook of microbiology

For students and researchers who work with microrganisms, 47 contributions provide basic and practical information. The text begins with chapters on sterilization, disinfection, and antisepsis; quantitation; culturing and preserving; stains; phage identification; and diagnostic medical microbiology, among other topics related to the basics and practicalities. Following are individual chapters on specific genus and species, and coverage of other relevant topics including introductions to parasites, yeasts, and virology, and a survey of clinical, commercial, and research-model eubacterial species. The first edition was published in 1989, and this second edition includes significant expansion of coverage and, of course, updates, reflecting the many changes in the field during that long period of time.
