Gastrointestinal malignancies

The first issue of a new journal devoted to cancer research, this volume for gastroenterologists and other clinicians, nurses, scientists, and students focuses on the treatment and improvement of outcomes for patients with gastrointestinal malignancies and analysis and assessment of new data on cancer therapeutics that have implications for clinical care, including the increasing number of medical and surgical management options. Saif (medicine and medical oncology, Yale U.) brings together 14 articles by contributors working in oncology, surgery, and gastroenterology in the US and Taiwan who address pathophysiology, epidemiology, clinical features, diagnostic modalities, and current and future treatment options for malignancies of the esophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, colon, and anal canal, and gastrointestinal stromal tumors. Included are articles on screening, assessment of predictive markers, the use of cytotoxic chemotherapy and newer biological therapies, and multimodality management.
